Run an online business?
So do we.

The AWB Firm is the go-to law firm for online business owners.

Hi, I’m Autumn, an award-winning intellectual property lawyer who helps ambitious entrepreneurs like you.

Are you ready to build a profitable online business and create the life of your dreams?

We help the leaders of six- and seven-figure+ online businesses protect everything they’ve worked so hard to build.

And we can do the same for you.

I wanted to make sure that our digital courses would be protected legally with a trademark.

Autumn’s team jumped right in and took the trademark registration process off our plate, communicating with us each step of the way, which was incredibly helpful to me and my busy team.

Autumn and the AWB Firm are professional, they keep things on track, meet deadlines, and are incredibly knowledgeable. I highly recommend working with them if you’re looking to protect your digital course.

AMY PORTERFIELD

When you work with our team at the AWB Firm, you won’t have to explain to your lawyer what a funnel is or how your online course or affiliate program works. We know about these things because that’s how we run our business, too.

The AWB Firm helps business owners identify the legal questions they don’t even know they should be asking, like:

  • How can I stop a competitor from stealing my business name or logo?
  • I’m building my team of contractors. Is that legal?
  • What do I need to do now to make sure the content of my online course won’t be ripped off later?
  • How should I protect my IP if I have affiliates promoting my programs & products?
  • Should I put my IP in a holding company?
  • How do I set up a licensing or certification program?
  • How can I set my business up to sell down the road and retire to the beach with a cocktail in my hand?

We’d love to put our expertise to work and take legal worries off your neverending to-do list, so you can focus on the parts of your business you do best.

Autumn is amazing at communicating legal information in terms that anyone can understand. With her help, we were able to improve our Facebook ad approval by having the correct terms and conditions on our site.

The firm’s all-female team does a stellar job at fast, efficient communication, and their smart, streamlined processes make working with them a breeze.

CHALENE JOHNSON

Our mission is for online business owners to never make another expensive legal mistake.

The AWB Firm Team

Meet Our Founder

Autumn Witt Boyd graduated in the top 10% of her class from Vanderbilt University Law School (a Top 20 law school) before ultimately landing as a senior associate at the premier copyright litigation law firm for photographers and stock photography agencies.

After spending the first 10 years of her career battling over copyrights and business issues in courtrooms across the U.S., Autumn left corporate behind to start the AWB Firm in 2015 so she could spend her days helping entrepreneurs build, protect, and scale their businesses the right way instead of fighting with other lawyers.

When it comes to intellectual property and business strategies, Autumn is known as a thought leader in the online business community, working with influencers like Amy Porterfield, Chalene Johnson, Corinne Crabtree, and many more, to help them avoid costly legal mistakes while scaling their businesses. She’s also passionate about making sure solopreneurs and side hustlers who may just be getting started have access to the type of protection they need to build their business on a solid legal foundation with customizable contract templates.

Autumn is mom to twin boys, Sam and Tyson, and daughter Vivian. Her husband David is also an entrepreneur — he runs a construction estimating company, Quantify, LLC, and is a partner in a real estate and development services firm, Peak Partners LLC. She definitely knows a thing or two about juggling!

Autumn loves to socialize (over coffee, or better yet, a glass of champagne!), read a good novel, monogram and put glitter on anything that sits still long enough, travel to new places, finish half marathons, and spend time outdoors.

Autumn is licensed to practice in Tennessee.

Meet Our Team

Michelle

Michelle is our resident labor and employment whiz, helping our clients intelligently and (more importantly) legally grow their teams.

Michelle graduated from Michigan State University with honors, and Wayne State University Law School in Detroit cum laude. After working her way to shareholder with a large metro-Detroit firm, in 2011, she relocated to Chattanooga, Tennessee with her children and husband when he accepted a job opportunity.

When she’s not working, Michelle loves running, practicing yoga, reading and talking about great books, cheering on juvenile athletes, and traveling to interesting corners of the world.

Michelle is licensed to practice in both Michigan and Tennessee.

Brooke

Our Business Manager Brooke is the process and systems guru at the AWB Firm.

Brooke and her family moved around the country and across the world before landing in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in 2006.

Brooke is active in the music ministry at her church and enjoys the creative outlets of singing, cooking, baking, art, sewing, upholstery, knitting, traveling, and developing her handy(wo)man skills.

Diane

Our Paralegal Diane (affectionately dubbed our ‘follow-up ninja’) assists clients throughout the trademark and copyright registration process to ensure their projects run smoothly and stay on track.

Diane graduated cum laude from East Carolina University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a minor in International Business. She is a CORE Registered Paralegal through the National Federation of Paralegal Associations and a member of the Paralegal Division of the North Carolina Bar Association.

Diane and her husband have two young boys. In her spare time, she loves cooking and trying new recipes. She also enjoys drinking coffee, traveling, and playing at the beach with her family.

Sarah Cate

Our Marketing Assistant Sarah Cate has experience starting and marketing multiple types of businesses, and loves all things entrepreneur.

After returning to Chattanooga from living abroad in Italy after she married her Italian husband, Sarah Cate worked for several years in administrative support for a large, local law firm while pursuing numerous entrepreneurial ventures on the side.

Sarah Cate and her Sicilian husband live in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with their son Enzo, and lead small group trips to Sicily a few times a year.

When you’re a creative you learn that most “professionals” don’t know how to deal with our businesses, and it makes you afraid to trust anyone with your very personal business.

But Autumn totally gets it, helping to protect me and my work without belittling my creativity or questioning my direction.

Autumn has helped me kick my businesses up a notch—with trademarks, truly professional, ass-covering contracts, and operating agreements to protect me, my business, my customers, and my partners.
