Run an online business?
So do we.

Our firm = major squad goals for your online business… when your squad has a law degree.

The AWB Firm helps everyone from side hustlers and solopreneurs who are just getting started to leaders of the biggest seven-figure+ businesses in the online world protect everything they’ve worked so hard to build.

From plug-and-play, cost-effective legal protection with our customizable contract templates, to protecting and scaling established online businesses with trademark or copyright registrations and sophisticated legal strategy,

the AWB Firm has solutions for all stages of online businesses.

I wanted to make sure that our digital courses would be protected legally with a trademark.

Autumn’s team jumped right in and took the trademark registration process off our plate, communicating with us each step of the way, which was incredibly helpful to me and my busy team.

Autumn and the AWB Firm are professional, they keep things on track, meet deadlines, and are incredibly knowledgeable. I highly recommend working with them if you’re looking to protect your digital course.

If you’re an entrepreneur, we know you pour your heart, soul, blood, sweat, and tears into building your business.

Your big ‘why’ may be to graduate from corporate, to build a legacy for your family, to help others, or a combination of all those things.

But regardless of the reason you’re building your business, you don’t want your big ‘why’ to fall by the wayside because you made an honest legal mistake that caused your whole business to collapse.

  • Losing all the brand awareness you built from scratch because you didn’t realize the name you chose for your business or product was already a registered trademark owned by someone else and now you have to pick a new one.
  • Being forced to pay major bucks in fines and legal fees because that independent contractor you hired should have been classified as an employee and now he wants you to pay overtime.
  • Waking up to find that one of your former students has copied all of your course content is selling it as her own at a fraction of the cost of yours because you didn’t include the right protections in the terms of use for your course.

The AWB Firm is on a mission to make sure entrepreneurs never make one of these or other expensive legal mistakes again.

Working with Autumn has helped ensure that I’m starting off client and collector relationships on the right, professional foot, and to keep things organized from the very beginning. There hasn’t been any confusion in terms of what can be expected from me and that means the world. I first heard Autumn on a podcast interview and I loved that she spoke in plain language. I quickly felt I could trust her. Once we started working together, everything was straightforward, including prices and results! I would recommend Autumn to any creative or artist who is building a business or looking to raise their business game.

Our mission is for online business owners to never make another expensive legal mistake.

Meet Our Founder

Autumn Witt Boyd graduated in the top 10% of her class from Vanderbilt University Law School (a Top 20 law school) before ultimately landing as a senior associate at the premier copyright litigation law firm for photographers and stock photography agencies.

After spending the first 10 years of her career battling over copyrights and business issues in courtrooms across the U.S., Autumn left BigLaw behind to start the AWB Firm in 2015 so she could spend her days helping entrepreneurs build, protect, and scale their businesses the right way, instead of fighting with other lawyers.

When it comes to intellectual property and business strategies, Autumn is known as a thought leader in the online business community, working with influencers like Amy Porterfield, Chalene Johnson, Corinne Crabtree, and many more, to help them avoid costly legal mistakes while scaling their businesses. She’s also passionate about making sure solopreneurs and side hustlers who may just be getting started have access to the type of protection they need to build their business on a solid legal foundation with customizable contract templates.

Autumn is mom to twin boys, Sam and Tyson, and daughter Vivian. Her husband David is also an entrepreneur — he runs a construction estimating company, Quantify, LLC, and invests in real estate development projects. She definitely knows a thing or two about juggling!

Autumn loves to socialize (over coffee, or better yet, a glass of champagne!), read a good novel, monogram and put glitter on anything that sits still long enough, travel to new places, finish half marathons, and spend time outdoors.

Autumn is licensed to practice in Tennessee.

Sarah Cate Patten

Our Marketing Director Sarah Cate has experience starting and marketing multiple types of businesses, and loves all things entrepreneur.

After returning to Chattanooga from living abroad in Italy after she married her Sicilian husband, Sarah Cate worked for several years in administrative support for a large, local law firm while pursuing numerous entrepreneurial ventures on the side.

Sarah Cate and her husband live in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with their son Enzo, and lead small group trips to Sicily a few times a year.

When you’re a creative you learn that most “professionals” don’t know how to deal with our businesses, and it makes you afraid to trust anyone with your very personal business.

But Autumn totally gets it, helping to protect me and my work without belittling my creativity or questioning my direction.

Autumn has helped me kick my businesses up a notch—with trademarks, truly professional, ass-covering contracts, and operating agreements to protect me, my business, my customers, and my partners.
